In December, I was shopping quite
a bit as you might have noticed already from my posts. Since I've hoarded so
much make-up, I decided to go for the skin care instead and ended up choosing a
set of different face products on Lookfantastic.com - the Ole Henriksen Magnificent Seven Holiday
Kit.
I paid about €33 for this set of
7 deluxe samples, which is bargain really, since each of the full-size products
costs an arm and a leg, but we'll get to that later. Apparently, the set is worth
£89, which brings us close to €120.
Now you'll probably agree that
the box looks fab on the front, but I find what is in the back even more
important. The box actually provides you exact information about each of the
products (it's also printed on the sides), also advising whether to use it in
the morning or in the evening.
I would have kept the box until I
ran out of the products anyway, since it's a cheat sheet and at the same time
stores the products really nicely. Of course you don't have to keep it – there are simple paper instructions inside
as well.
Anyway, as already mentioned, the
set includes 7 deluxe samples. I'll just do this review in the
way I use them throughout the day. I start of every morning with the African
Red Tea Foaming cleanser. The
instruction is to simply massage it into damp skin and rinse clean with warm
water.
First of all, I love that it's a foam product, since I kind of enjoy the light feeling of light foam on my face. Secondly, this cleanser smells like heaven. And thirdly, it really leaves my face feeling very clean and fresh. It's an instant refresher in the morning.
Next up, I follow with the Truth
Serum Collagen Booster. This is supposed to be applied every morning to a clean
face and neck.
The pump on this bottle is quite
wild and I managed to spritz the product all over my bathroom a couple of
times, so instead of putting it on my fingers, I just pump it into my palm and
then apply it to my face. I wasn’t too sure it was doing anything in the first
couple of weeks, but now I’m definitely starting to notice that my skin tone is
more even and a bit more tightened. And again, this smells like oranges and
makes for a perfect start of my morning.
I follow up with the last step in
the morning routine, the Truth Revealed Super Creme (with SPF 15) - the yellow one in the photo below. It’s really
a moisturizer, so I apply it as such. I love that it absorbs really well which
means I don’t have to wait more than a minute or two before I go in with my
primer and start on my make-up. So basically, it’s a nice smelling, lightweight
cream that still manages to give proper moisture to my face.
In the evening, after putting off
my make-up, I again use the foaming cleanser to make sure my face is really
clean. Then I go in with the Invigorating Night Treatment which I simply apply
to face and neck.
This bad boy (green one, above) has AHA complex in
it which is supposed to help cell renewal and diminish lines, wrinkles and
blemishes. Note from the unwise: don’t
use anything with AH acid after a face scrub. Take my word for it. I really
don’t like the gel consistency (I don’t like anything that shakes in the
container, which is also why I don’t eat pudding – fun fact about me) and this
is the one step that I always feel like skipping but make myself do it just to
be proper about this routine.
After that, I apply the Ultimate
Lift Eye Gel (also in the picture above) under my eyes and towards the temples.
It’s sticky and unpleasant at first, but I think that it does help tighten the
area around my eyes. I also use it when I’m
having a bad morning after a night of partying and I want to look decent.
Last but not least, I finish up
with the Sheer Transformation (in the picture above with the daily moisturizer,
really not much to look at), applying it to face and neck. This stuff is
fantastic and you only need a tiny amount to make the entire face feel really
moisturized.
The last perk in the pack is the Walnut
Complexion Scrub.
Size of the products
These products are mostly really
small in real life so I was quite disappointed when I opened the box (foam 45
ml, eye gel 7ml, all other products 15ml/g). But now, it’s been almost 6 weeks
since I properly started using them and I’m at about a half of each product. So
to last me all year, I would really only need to purchase this 4 times – I would
say that an investment of 150€ for skincare in one year isn’t too dramatic,
especially since I consider how much I spend each time when I visit the
hairdresser.
Prices
The prices for full sized products
are... hefty. Foaming cleanser costs 28,9 € ( based on the size, the value of
sample is about 6,3€), eye gel costs 49,3 € (sample value 11,5 €), night and
daily moisturizer along with the serum each cost 64,4 € (each sample worth
about 19,3 €), night treatment costs 57,5 € (sample worth 17,3 €) and last but
not least, the scrub comes in at a whooping 35,6 € (sample value 10,7 €).
Expensive, I know. But check this
out – I really did the math on these products and the values of deluxe samples
and the set is obviously worth more than 115 € - exactly like they promised.
So, for 35 € you’re getting a 115 € value, which is pretty awesome in my
opinion.
Would I repurchase?
Most of you don’t know me. But most of
you know that I’m thirty and I still get spots and light acne on my face. Like,
c’mon, that’s supposed to stop at the age of 20, right? But, get this – my skin
has been looking amazing for the past month. Like – amazing. My husband who is
oblivious to such things as my skin even commented several times that it’s
looking really good. Other people notice it. I feel more confident in wearing
lightweight foundations since I don’t have much to cover up. And I think that
it really is thanks to Ole Henriksen himself.
So yes, I would repurchase – I will
repurchase. I will probably go for this pack one more time and then decide on the
products that I really love enough – so far, I would definitely purchase the
full size Foaming cleanser and the Collagen booster serum. But all in all, as a
team, they work perfectly.
My advice would be that if you’re on the hunt for good skincare products, check out Lookfantastic or Feelunique for these value packs (I’m really feeling the Ole Henriksen unwrap your radiance collection right now). When I’m decided on one, I usually wait for another promo code to roll around to get additional 15 or 20 % off. Right now, Feelunique is having a 3 for 2 sale, which is obviously a really good deal at these prices. No, I am not affiliated with any of these sites.
Thank you, Ole Henriksen, for
doing wonders to my skin. Thank you.
Until next time, stay beautiful. And don’t forget to check out my giveaway and my Instagram – you can
