Blogmas #7: Who is Low Maintenance Beauty?

If you've been following my blog for a long time, you probably only know me as Maša. That Maša who never publishes her own photos. As mentioned many times I had a solid reason for keeping my privacy in that aspect, but now some things have changed and today - for the first time - I'm happy to share my face with you.

Naturally, this also means that my blog will change a bit. Now, I'll be able to show you the make-up on my face, create a make-up look for special occasions or share my photos from events. I'm looking forward to the freedom this change will give me.

I only see it fitting that we catch up on a couple of moments from past years when you had to take my word for everything I was doing and testing. I'd like to share some photos with you - photos that show me for who I am and what I love in life. These are not professional photos - just those that mean something to me and captured special moments of my life. Hopefully, you like this change and will continue my journey with me.

I love to travel, in fact that's one of my favorite things in the world. I've seen over 40 countries and look forward to add more to the list. This photo is from one of the travels - Death Valley at 50'C. ***** Ljubim potovanja, ki so ena mojih najljubših stvari v življenju.

Pool is a large part of my life. I am a multiple national champion, member of the Slovenian national team and a referee.

My friends are priceless. I daresay this was one of the more magical dances in my life.

I am one of those people who will clean the house in a red lip. By the way, this is me cleaning the polish my cat Maybe broke ***** Sem ena tistih žensk, ki nosijo rdečo šminko tudi, ko čistijo hišo.

Through blogging, I've meet some incredible people. Gabi from blog Parokeets is my sister from another mister, my guide and mentor, and in many cases, my rock when I need some kind words.

For the past eight months, my main role is taking care of my little boy. I feel incredibly lucky that such an amazing little man picked me to be his mum.

But besides all that, I am also a person that will take THIS photo in front of Sephora - because precious moments need to be cherished. If you're looking at my under-eye bags, let me explain: this is day 5 in Las Vegas.

Now, as promised, I am also going to show you the giveaway present for these holidays. It includes a number of brands, some of which are hard to come by in Slovenia and some which are Slovenian. I had so many ideas about what I wanted to include that in the end, I really think that there are many things in here that you will enjoy.

THURSDAY RAMBLINGS: My view on blogging

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while for a while, you know I have a full time job. I wouldn’t even call it a full time job, more of a 1+1 job, since it’s not unusual for me to reach 250+ hours per month. I also have different hobbies, a house, hubby and a princess kitty to take care of and quite recently, I added a baby to the mix. So it’s not like my life was boring before I started blogging.

When I wrote the first post, I seriously doubted anyone will ever read anything I wrote. I didn’t know how to take photos (I mean, they are still not excellent, but looking back I will say that I’ve come a long way in the past two years), I didn’t know how to tag, how to address people, what information to include and so on.

Two years later, I don’t really care about blogging rules that much I like my photos as they are and I’m not willing to invest more money into new gadgets and aids to make them any better. I don’t buy subscribers on any platform. I don't really use GA. I know that people prefer shorter posts and more photos, but I don’t care about that – I will give you long, like super long posts most of the time. I love writing so that’s the way I roll – if you don’t like it, nobody is forcing you to read it.

Where have I been? – Life update

Dear beauties,

Yes, I have sort of vanished from the face of the Earth in the past few months. I am sorry for that, but not much could be done about that. If you want to know the facts and reasons behind my disappearance, keep on reading!

As many of you may remember, I announced my pregnancy in beginning of January. My due date was 25th of March (which has come and gone and the baby is keeping us waiting) and since we didn't buy a single thing until we told everyone, we had a lot to do in those three months.

I must say, that playing house all over again, decorating the nursery and buying baby clothes had been a blast and I enjoyed every minute of it. Everything had been set for about a month now, just waiting for the new addition to our family. I will share some photos once the little one arrives.

I had a really lovely pregnancy up until about 36 weeks (a normal pregnancy lasts about 40 weeks) and I was really proud of myself, saying sentences like »I could do this all the time« and »I don't even understand why I have to go on maternity leave« and similar. Well, then 36th week rolled around and all of a sudden, every possible nuisance and pain related to the last month hit me hard. I got back pain. I got cramps. I got an inflammation of the carpal tunnel (which I still have and typing is hell). I began suffering from high blood pressure and swelling. I was filling ill all the time. I started having ligament pain. You name it, it hurt.

And yes, blogging was the last thing on my mind with my body so obviously set on hurting me.

For the past couple of days, I've been feeling a little better, but it's possibly also because I know that it's really going to be any day now that little M. joins this world. I have some posts planned in the meantime, hopefully I'll be able to post them normally.

And once I come back, we'll have plently of reasons to celebrate with a nice giveaway!

Until next time, stay beautiful!

Blogvember #11: 20 random facts about me tag

I've come to know a lot of you quite well, but still I feel that since I am blogging anonymously, I sometimes don't reveal as much as I could. So in order not to start rambling about nonsense before I even being writing for real, I introduce you to 20 random facts about me that not many people know. Do enjoy them and please let me know an interesting fact or two about yourself in the comments below!

1. I hardly ever forget my cell phone at home, and if I do, I will return home to get it no matter how far from home I've already come.

2. I never drink energy drinks - I drank my last Red Bull in high school almost 15 years ago and then decided never to have one again.

3. I love swimming and use to compete as well, but I am terrified of water, or better said, things that lurk in the shadows, so I never go into the sea by myself. Being a statistic, I see it as minimizing the odds of being eaten.

4. If I get mad, I forgive quickly, but I never forget. It's not in my nature to hold a grudge, but I have incredibly good memory for storing silly things.

5. I really dislike eating things with my hands.

6. Until I broke my ankle a couple of years back, my only shoes without heels were a pair of sports trainers and some beach flip-flops. I was in heels for at least 300 days each year. And nothing under 7 cm would even qualify as a heel.

7. My first concert I went to was Caught in The Act. At the same time, it's the thing in my past I  lie about the most when asked, since I'm not exactly proud of it.

8. I wear the same t-shirts for entire year, so I hardly switch up my wardrobe at all during seasons.

9. I've never gotten a speeding ticket, although I do have some Fittipaldi in my blood. Thankfully, the police are not really interested in the streets I drive on daily.

10. I pretend to hate holidays like Valentines day or Halloween, but secretly, I kind of enjoy them.

11. Because I learned Latin for a long time, I can understand quite a few roman languages and read in even more of them, but couldn't order a cup of coffee in most of these to save my life.

12. I hate, hate, hate stockings. I hate buying stockings, I hate putting on stockings, I hate checking all the time that they haven't ripped, I hate washing them and I hate putting them away. I hate every single thing about them.

13. My cat isn't allowed on the bed, but secretly I wish that she would come up every once in a while for a snuggle.

14. I really want to learn calligraphy one day, when I find the time. But I probably won't tell anyone.

15. One of my favorite past-times is wrapping presents. I try to wrap each present for each person differently and add a personal touch, but only because it makes me happy.

16. I wish I could play with Lego's even now when I'm grown up and that nobody would find that weird.

17. I am not against plastic surgery and I see myself getting some things done in the near or far future.

18. Although I absolutely love to travel for pleasure, I don't ever want to visit Australia. I don't see a single appealing thing about it.

19. If my hubby and I behave in public the way we do at home, people think we're crazy. Even people who know us quite well.

20. I forgot to do my eyebrows a couple of weeks back and when I went to the toilet at work and looked at myself in the mirror, I literally jumped back a couple of inches.

Whoa, I think that this is what therapy feels like, I feel quite liberated. I  suggest you try it as well, as I find this tag really entertaining.

Until next time, stay beautiful!

30 Beauty Questions Tag

So this is it - the "before" state of my beauty life as I embark on this mad make-up induced path I envision in my head. As I am still ill, cozy on the couch with a nice mug of hot tea (and a cookie, obviously), I decided to just dig in and see what we come up with. Now, let's get started!

1. Do you remember your first make-up item?

Sure! It was a glittery light-blue eyeshadow. Similar to a Color Tattoo. Quite nice, but I lost it after a couple of days of carrying it around everywhere. Then I never really bothered to ask for something else. Because I was a dancer my whole teenage period, I owned more make-up than most kids those days. Maybe some experience with it scared me off the whole idea of make up and I just can't remember it? Must ask my mum about it.

2. Describe you perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?

Black. And not clumpy. What I learned in the past month is that my eyelashes are really long, so I need to add volume and curl them more than I need to lengthen them. Now I need to find the perfect mascara to help me do that.

3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?

I don't even understand this questions? A foundation is supposed to cover, right? Why would you use it otherwise?

4. Favorite high end brand?

Chanel. I did/do actually own quite a lot of Chanel by some curious twist of fate. Long story.

TMI Tag

Your low maintenance beauty has fallen ill, so it was the nose-blowing and tea-making routine for me, rather than a make-up one. But, I have mustered enough energy to write a quick blog today. Since I haven't made ANY progress, I though it would be fun to do a random TMI tag, followed by a Beauty Questions tag. I think that especially the latter one will be quite fun to read in a year or so, provided that I actually will follow up and do something spectacular regarding my looks.

So I searched for a TMI tag and came up with a 50 questions one that seems to be quite popular on Youtube at the moment. Without further ado, here are the questions and the answers.

1. What are you wearing?

Right now, yoga pants from Nike and a Kings t-shirt. Yes, I'm a huge Kings fan, although I'm a girl and live thousands of miles from USA. Do you know that #11 Kopitar is Slovenian? Didn't think so :)

2. Ever been in love?

I think I've been in love, yes. It's what I would describe my current status as.

3. Ever had a terrible breakup?

Quite a few, so I wouldn't really get into that. Fun fact - if your bf asks for money for his birthday and you break up months before, he might still call you on the day and ask for the money. I tried to pick up my jaw from the floor for weeks after that.

4. How tall are you?

168 cm or 5,5. Yes, I had to Google that one.

5. How much do you weight?

Too much. My weight is really bouncing up and down lately, but I consider myself to be overweight. FYI, in Slovenia, my size is M, and in USA I'm a XS. So... my enormousness is obviously very relative to the continent.

How it all began

It's not that I don't care. Because I do.

I always made sure that my hair was clean, my nails were pretty (yes, nail polishes were always a must for me) and that my lips weren't chapped. I wore foundation, some eye shadow and mascara. An occasional lipgloss, always in pink, because I thought that that was the only color that complimented my blue eyes, blonde hair and light complexion. This brings us to about 5 products.

I am and will always remain a sucker for shampoos and conditioners, because the highlighting leaves my hair somewhat dry. So I always stocked up on those. Also, I used a hairspray. Not counting simple elastic bands, we're now at 8 products. Of course, I have a face cream, a hand cream and a body lotion. Some sunscreen, Aloe Vera, some perfumes. But I hardly think that counts. And if it does, we still haven't reached the fairy tale dozen.
